Official Journal 886/17.12 – Order no. 632/2009 of the 15th of December regarding some consumer information measures by the economic operators who perform currency exchange activities

The economic operators who perform currency exchange activities are bound to inform the consumer, in writing, before the effective currency exchange operation, about the practiced exchange rate and the amount to be handed to the consumer, by means of filling-in a transaction acceptance form, which will be signed by both parties, so that the consumer is offered the possibility to make a rational decision. The economic operator must present evidence of the written information of the consumer before conducting the transaction by means of a transaction acceptance form which will be drawn up both in the Romanian language and the English language, in two original copies, one original copy for the consumer and the other one for the economic operator. After verifying if the form is correctly filled-in, the consumer signs it, at the same time keeping an original copy of the document. Any currency exchange transaction may be performed only after filling-in this form.

In case the consumer determines inconsistencies between the displayed exchange rate and the one specified in the transaction acceptance form or the fiscal receipt, he is entitled to request, in writing, within 24h at most, the cancellation of the transaction.

This order comes into force within 30 days after its publication in the Romanian Official Journal.
